I`d say it depends. In Spanish class we learned the Spanish forms of
our names (Christopher becomes Christobol iirc). If changing Chris to
the Japanese equivelent of Christ-SpearBearer would help convey a plot
point, I`d be for it. If however the character isn`t Christian and
neither religion or warfare comes into play I`d say leave it in the
original form. Context is everything.
