Please tell me where in this thread I said I`d do any of these things to
Ms. Oono.

I helped with adaptation on a fan translation of part of one of the Video
Girl Ai novels many years ago. The translator (whose own English was
excellent) told me several times that he felt that my proposed amendments
to the English translation were closer to the meanings he got from the
Japanese text of the novels. And I didn`t even have that text to work
with. I still can`t translate, really, but I can adapt translations a
hell of a lot better than the people who mould existing stories to fit
their own egos or what Marketing tells them they should.

Man, do you know how that sounds, coming from someone whose own specially
humourless, overpedantic form of abrasion (which makes steel wool feel
like lanolin) has earned him more killfilings than I`ve had carafons of
hot sake?
